Christmas baubles

Hi!!!
I have been knitting baubles like crazy and have made six already! That is why I have not posted anything for a while. I have been making one a day! One of my favourite ones are a eight petal rose and a three colour ball made with a beautiful petrol greeney bluey as well as. My mum gave it away as a present and it looks great on her tree. I might just have to make another one! My mum's friend is crocheting the hooks as I can not crochet- I don't even have a crochet hook! They will look great on a small tree or in a glass bowl on my table at Christmas! I will post a picture tomorrow when I have got them all back ready to hang on the tree!!!!!!
Have a merry Christmas!!!

Hi!!
Over the last week I have been knitting like crazy as I really want to finish my christmas stocking in time for christmas! At least I don't have to do two sides because if I did I doubt it would be done for next christmas! I have never done fair Ilse before and am starting to get the hang of it! Any tips???? There is a little mistake on one side, but I will just turn it round and hope that Santa doesn't notice!! I hope you like it!!

Santa Claus is coming to town

Hi,
happy first day of advent, Ho! Ho! Ho!
This is our advent doll bursting at the seams with goodies! We didn't make it though. But this week i've been busy making some christmas bunting, which is now hanging up on the stair way!
I used some Pom Poms for the top of it, which I'm really pleased with.
Not sure what my next project is yet, any suggestions?

Christmas is coming!

For my birthday last week I got a delightful book written by two men, Arne and Carlos. It has 55 christmas balls which are all beautiful!!. I think my first one will be a snowman!!! The only thing was the lovely wool which they used in the book wasn't stocked in the U.K!! Had to call on America! I bought some 100% wool batting for stuffing which they suggested and has just arrived. So soft! I also got the lovely Dale of Norway "Miela" wool in cherry red and Off white and petrol blue. I hope they arrive on Monday! Will update you when it arrives! I was also going to get a silver and gold but could not find them. I will have another look on the Internet but might have to have it from America!!!!!

Perfect purchases!!

Hi Olivia here!!!
I have just been to my local sewing and bought a lovely pattern as well as an amazing travel sewing kit. First the travel sewing kit. It is so cute!!! I love the tin it comes in but the stuff inside is so nice!!! In it you get these really cool scissors which fold up, a thimble, some white, blue, red and pink thread, six safety pins, a tape measure, some buttons and poppers, an unpicker and some needles!!!!!
The knitting pattern I got was also really nice. I have had some lovely softie wool for ages ( almost a year!!!) and needed to use it up. I set out to try and find a pattern to use it in. I found a really nice pattern for some slouchy slipper socks which are really nice and comes with three other patterens and was only £2.99!!!! Although I will have to buy two more balls of wool they look so nice it is worth it and just wanted to get rid of that wool!!!!!

brilliant bean bag

Hi
Did you have a good holiday? (Post a comment below letting me know!)
I've been busy making a pink patchwork bean bag!!!!!!!!! Here's a picture of it!!!!!
I'm so glad that I made it out of scraps!!!!!!!I will enjoy sitting on it in front of the tv !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend love Maisie xxxxx

Ampersand!!!!!!!!

Hi!!!! Olivia here.
Have been so busy making little things. First, I have been making an ampersand for Fred&Eric the company we did the interview with. They ask people to make their version of the ampersand in between the Fred and the Eric. It uses beautiful rowan lima wool in a gorgeous ruby red. I have covered a wooden ampersand with the lovely wool and have knitted a pretty flower as well as a sweet little leaf. They're also knitted in the rowan lima. I used up some of my old scraps lima which was perfect. It would of just been pointless to have bought another two balls of the lima. I still have enough for another flower maybe even another leaf!!!!!!!!!!!

Our fantastic interview with Fred and Eric!!

Hi! On the weekend we went down to London to interview a company called Fred & Eric. They are a t.v production company who love getting crafty and anything handmade. They use lots of their handmade crafts for their animation. Here are the Questions & the Answers:

Q: Why did you choose the name of your company fred and eric?
A: We saw the word 'frederic' and loved the name and split it up into Fred & Eric. It seemed funny at the time, but really isn't!!

Q: What happens to all the crafts after they have been used
A: They either join the Fred & Eric family on the shelf or given away to someone very special.

Q: What is the best bit about the job?
A: Making soft cuddly toys!!

Q: What is your next project?
Well...... I think it is the green ambassadors project for WWF which will be appearing in schools next year.

Q: What is your favourite thing that you've made?
A: The little cuddles and the southern train Spanish man.

I hope you enjoyed our first interview! They were really friendly and the Fred & Eric family of handmade fun were very, very cuddly and sweet, especially little cuddles and mr special!!! They have had loads of '&'s sent in and they are all unique and fun.

Some of their animation uses their wonderful crafts. There is a link to a video at the end of this post which you can watch and an animation they made for comic relief. We would love to know what you think of the post and the videos so post a comment and tell us what you think!

teacher's tremendous tea cosy!

Hi, Olivia here! I have been working on a tea cozy for a teacher at school. It has been very tricky as there was loads of cabling and it went a bit wrong on the first half but by the time I had finished it I had mastered cabling! It is made with the best rowan wool ever! I also learnt how to make a bobble which is very exciting! It feels great to have learnt something new. I have been busy making pom poms for the top of the tea cosy and they are so cool! Have just finished the third one and they are a great way of using leftover wool. They look brilliant popped on top! I really hope my teacher likes it. We bought a lovely Avoca button cup and a sweet milk and sugar jug with the same button print from my lovely local shop as a tiny something to go with it.
It would be great to know what you think our blog so please leave us a comment. Thanks!

Summer scraps Patch work

Hi,

This is Maisie I hope your all ok! I've been in France on a school trip. It was so fun and that's why we couldn't post! This week I've been busy making a patchwork beanbag, it's not finished yet! All the materials I've used are scraps and left-overs from other projects. My mum is very pleased to get rid of some!

We went to our local sewing and knitting shop yesterday. There was a sale on so we were in there for ages! Olivia was looking mostly at the knitting and I was looking mostly at the sewing, we were in heaven!

Have a great week!

Home is where the heart cushion is!

Hi!

I've got tons of new stuff to put on this blog post, as I've been away for the past week on a school trip to France and have got up to lots of stuff since I've got back.

First thing is to show you my cushion. While I was away my mum was busy sewing up my cushion which I  had finished knitting, but had not yet sewn up, and when I got back it was a really lovely surprise to find it finished and ready to snuggle! It used the nicest Rowan wool and is incredibly
soft. The finished result will be on this post, but the start of it is on my first post if you want to check that out.

While I was away on my school trip in France, I went to a market in Dieppe which had the best sewing stool. I did not buy any of the beautiful fabric as it would not have fitted in my suitcase, but could not resist getting something, so bought some lovely lace for two euros! Really good quality and tons of
it there.

Happy crafting!

The Queen Coming To Town

We've been busy with jubilee celebrations! I made lots and lots of bunting because my grandma was having a party. Everyone kept saying what lovely bunting it was and they were very surprised that I made it.

For our next project grandma has asked us to make some cushions for her bench. We've got to make 10(that's quite a lot.) Come back soon to see how we get on!

Hope you have  a lovely jubilee so far, and a lovely bank holiday! And hope you don't have too much rain!!          From Maisie xxx

Baby Blanket!

My knee is feeling better and have just taken off my huge bandage. The doctor has said that I need to rest  it and am having the stitches taken out in two weeks. Am hobbling along for now but it should soon get better. I think I'll stick with knitting for week or so!
Have been knitting a baby blanket and it is so nice! I am using some very nice Debbie Bliss wool called cashmerino aran. I have not used very much Debbie Bliss wool as mainly use Rowan but I love the colours I am using and the softness of it is lovely! It is also a very easy knit. I know I should finish a project before I start planning my next but I have found a nice pattern for an embroidery in a Cath Kidston book. Here is a picture of the blanket.

Comfy cushion

I have been doing lots of sewing these last two months. I made a cushion for my grandma 's room when she comes to stay with us. It took a little while as we had our friend with us so there was lots of chatting. It took ages to pin the trimming on but I am really pleased with the result.
Come back next week and see how we are getting on. Have a lovely Mothers day tomorrow. Maisie xxx :)

Another hat finished!!!!!!

I made a hat with very nice Rowan wool. The wool was so soft and cuddly:). It didn't take as long the other ribbed hat and the pattern maybe my favourite. This hat was made specially for my other uncle. It was for his birthday. It has been very annoying not being able to put it on the blog as it was a surprise so it is great being able to post it now.  I now have both of my two uncles both with my homemade hats! I just need to find some more uncles now!
