Yoga bag !!!

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I haven't posted for a while I have been very busy at school, but now I'm on school holidays so I have loads of time to craft!

This week has been craft week at my house, and I made a yoga bag for my mum to keep her yoga mat in! I found the pattern in a book I was looking in at the bookshop over the weekend. I made it out of some fabric I brought when I went to Japan three years ago! It said to use webbing, and so we had a quick trip down to our local sewing shop (The Owl and The Sewing Cat) where we bought this beautiful bright pink and made a strap out of it.  I also added a drawstring on it and a toggle.
Next week I'm going to make something else, so watch this space to see what it is !
Have a great week,
Maisie xx

VOGUE KNITTING INTERVIEW!!

Hi, it's Olivia here!
As you can guess by the heading, I have some very exciting news, which is pretty obvious when you read the title. We have had the pleasure of interviewing Trisha Malcolm, the editor-in-chief of Vogue knitting America! Although this is the first I've told you, I am extremely excited and can't wait for you to read it. I would like to thank Trisha for taking time out of her busy schedule to answer these questions. Anyway, here it is:

1. DID YOU EVER THINK YOU WOULD BE WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
"Never!!!! I grew up in a small town in Australia and never even imagined I'd ever live in New York, let alone have this job."

2.WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE MAGAZINE?
"The Yarn Page, where we show closeup photos of yarn. To me it feels like you can actually touch the yarn! I love everything, but this is my favourite page."

3.WHAT DO YOU THINK HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST CHANGE SINCE THE MAGAZINE STARTED?
"The magazine originally started in 1932, then it closed in 1969 and was relaunched in 1982. I really enjoy looking at the old,old issue, and would say the biggest change from long ago is the move from black and white to cloud photography. When the When the relaunch happened I think the approach to the layout was more thoughtful, and articles added. There were no articles in the older issues."

4. DO YOU KNIT YOURSELF AND IF YOU DO, WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST PROJECT?
"Yes, I have been knitting since the age of four, on and off. My most ambitious project was the DKNY tree sweater from the fall 1992 issue. It was the first issue I ever worked on ( I have worked at vogue knitting twice now), and I found the only mistake in the pattern before it went to print (whew!). It was a complicated oversized cardigan with trees, flowers and clouds knit into it. I still have it and love it, though I wish I had knit it in more expensive yarn so that it would have worn better. It's not looking to good these days..."

5. AS A TEENAGE KNITTER, DO YOU THINK THAT YOUNG PEOPLE ARE MORE INTO KNITTING THAN EVER?
"Absolutely.her are so many benefits that knitting brings teens-it's meditative so it helps relive stress during school dramas, it helps the brain, it's mathematical, creative, and so much more. And it's cool to make your own clothes, or gifts for your friends. On top of that, it's a thing to do with other people,  so it's great to hang out with your friends, chat and use your time creatively."

6.WHY DO YOU THINK THERE HAS BEEN SUCH A SURGE OF YOUNG PEOPLE CRAFTING?
"I think that no matter what your age is, we all spend much time on our computers and phones. Crafting is the perfect antidote for that. And it's fun, creative, and you feel good. Really, almost no one knits and feels bad about it afterwards(except when you have to frog...or your yarn gets tangled!)"

7. HAS THIS AFFECTED THE MAGAZINE IN ANYWAY?
"Our staff are much younger than when I first started with the magazine, and that's a great thing!"

8. WHAT, AS EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, DO YOU WANT TO SEE CHANGE IN THE MAGAZINE ?
"A lot. For starters, I want a new website, and a redesign! And I wish we had a loyalty club for our readers to join. We try to do at least one thing different every issue."

I really hoped you enjoyed that really special interview with Trisha Malcolm and, as I have already mentioned, I am so grateful for Trisha for taking the time to answer the questions and being helpful over the emails. If you enjoyed this blog post and would like to see more like this please leave a comment down below and tell me what you think!
Bye!!
